Credit cards are mandatory for the security deposit (Only for blocking amount) This blocked amount is not deducted from the card unless there are charges added to a contract after the Hertz vehicle has been returned. For example, extra mileage charges, damages charges, driving license lost& traffic fines.

The security deposit is not charged to the card so there is no actual refund from Hertz. However, it can take up to 29 days (or fewer, depending on the card provider or bank) for the block to be released. After that the customer can use the blocked amount again.

Customers might get a message from their bank when the money is blocked. The blocked amount won’t be debited from the account. Customers will only see actual charges on their credit card statements.

Foreigners Resident in Egypt must have held a Valid Egyptian license for over a year. For visitors with a foreign passport, a valid International Driving License is mandatory.

Yes, the renter must be at least 23 years old, and hold a valid driving license and credit card.

Parking in Egypt is readily available. Parking charges vary by time of the day and parking zone. Customers need to check the parking zone they are using and pay the appropriate fee when parking their Hertz vehicle.

We strongly urge all customers to follow the traffic regulations for their safety and to ensure that they adhere to the law.

The most common traffic fines reported in the country include:

  • Exceeding the speed limit
  • Failure to pay for parking
  • Not following traffic signals
  • Failure to wear seat belts
  • Using a phone while driving

Hertz offers 24hr breakdown and roadside assistance with all rental packages. If a vehicle is involved in an accident, the car should not be moved, unless the damage is minor and the vehicle is causing an obstruction.

The customer should call the police (121) and stay with the vehicle, provided it is safe to do so. A police report will have to be submitted to Hertz, so we can make an Insurance claim. Please note that insurance cover is void if a valid police report is not provided.

Please notify our 24hr toll-free number 010 – 65055558 of the incident. They will provide arrange for a replacement vehicle to be provided, should it be required.

No. Towing is a violation of the rental agreement and is not permitted under any circumstances.

Yes, an additional driver can be added for a minimal charge. Inform our counter staff at the time of the rental and make sure that the extra driver has a passport and valid driving license.

Yes, cars can be dropped off at any Hertz location within the Arab republic of Egypt territory and customers might need to pay a minimum Drop-Off charge if they are terminating the contract at an airport.

A 30-minute grace period is provided on every Hertz rental. Any further extensions will amount to an additional day’s charge. Customers who suspect that they might be delayed in returning their vehicle should contact the branch or our toll-free number straight away.

No. Off-road use is a violation of the rental agreement and is strictly forbidden.

For any insurance coverage to be applied to a rental agreement, a valid police report is mandatory. Customers need to opt for SCDW at the time of booking or at the time of vehicle pick-up. It cannot be added during the rental.

Hertz vehicles can be driven inside Egypt territory with their obligation to pay the road crossing fees at its different tariffs according to each city entrance fee.

Yes, please make sure that bookings are modified if travel plans change. Depending on our current rates, additional charges may apply. If the original vehicle pick-up schedule is altered or cancelled, please make sure that the booking is cancelled with adequate notice to avoid any cancellation or no-show penalties.

On daily and weekly rentals, there is no refund for unused days. On monthly rentals, if the customer has chosen to return before completion of the month, a refund will apply subject to the application of a shorter duration package.
