There are no active flight suspensions in place for Egypt. Flights from high-risk countries may be banned in response to new variants.
Passengers from all countries can enter Egypt with valid proof of a negative COVID-19 test result or vaccine certificate.

Passengers who do not have a valid vaccination certificate need to take a COVID-19 PCR test before flying to Egypt. A printed negative test result certificate is required to enter the country.
To be considered valid to travel to Egypt, the test result certificate must be issued: 

  • By an approved laboratory
  • In Arabic or English
  • No more than 72 hours before arrival
  • With a QR code

Passengers under the age of 12 are exempt from the test requirement.

Passengers do not have to have a COVID-19 test to travel to Egypt if they are fully vaccinated. A vaccination certificate showing the full course was completed at least 14 days before arrival is required. 

The approved COVID-19 vaccines to travel to Egypt are: 

  • AstraZeneca 
  • Janssen 
  • Moderna 
  • Pfizer-BioNTech 
  • Sinopharm 
  • Sinovac 
  • Sputnik V 

Travelers arriving from countries of variant concern may be subject to a COVID-19 test on arrival in Egypt, even if fully vaccinated. 

Children under the age of 12 are also exempt from this entry requirement. 

No, it is not possible to enter Egypt with proof of recover from COVID-19. Currently, all overseas passengers need proof of one of the following: 

  • Negative COVID-19 PCR test result 
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 

Passengers on direct flights to any of the airports listed below can take a PCR test on arrival rather than before departure. 

Travelers who have the test on arrival should stay in their hotel room until they receive the result. Individuals are generally notified of the result in 12 to 24 hours. 

In case of a positive result, self-isolation for 14 days is mandatory. The traveler covers the cost of this test. 

People traveling to the coastal governorates with a valid vaccination certificate do not need to get tested before departure or on arrival. 

Travelers must also present a completed Public Health Card on arrival in Egypt. Countries worldwide are introducing this kind of entry requirement to prevent the virus from spreading. 

Passengers should provide flight information and contact details. This is because the authorities will notify them if someone they traveled with later tests positive for COVID-19, in which case they would have to self-isolate. 

Proof of valid health insurance is also required. 

Temperature checks are in place at airports in Egypt. In addition, travelers are required to wear a face mask at all times in the airport terminal. 

Passengers are also asked to maintain a safe distance between themselves and others, especially when boarding and disembarking the aircraft. 

The airport has set up hand sanitizing stations. Visitors should wash their hands or make use of the alcohol-based hand gel at regular intervals. 

At the airport, passengers arriving from overseas will be asked to present the medical certificate, public health card, and proof of valid health insurance.
